Prosenjit Chatterjee is an Indian actor and producer who predominantly works in Bengali and Hindi cinema. He began his film career as a child actor with the 1968 Bengali film 'Chotto Jigyasa'. Making a debut as a lead actor with the 1983 Bengali movie 'Duti Pata', he later appeared in 'Amar Sangi', 'Apon Amaar Apon', and 'Ami, Yasin Ar Amar Madhubala', which became three of the most important movies of his career. He has worked with a number of major actors in the Bengali industry in more than a hundred movies. In 1990, he made a debut in Bollywood with the David Dhawan directorial 'Aandhiyan'. Chatterjee made a comeback in the Hindi film industry with 'Meet Mere Man Ke' in 1991. He also debuted in parallel cinema with the 2003 Rituparno Ghosh directorial 'Chokher Bali'. The Bengali film 'Bapi Bari Jaa' marked his debut as a producer in 2012. In 2021, he was awarded the Filmfare Awards Bangla for Best Actor for the Bengali film 'Gumnaami'.
